The “10 commandments” of Collector’s etiquette: Rules of the game & safety for firearms collectors

Please read this carefully, is makes a lot of sense…. !!

In following these rules you will be quickly accepted and you can be sure that you will have a hell of a time in the collector’s community.

1 Never touch any item without asking the owner or guardian, be it in a store environment, exhibition of private collection.

2 Try to avoid touching the metal with bare hands, the use of specialty gloves is recommended for the preservation of the metal surfaces.

3 Never hold the firearm as you would hold it for any kind of shooting, be it handgun, rifle or shotgun.

4 Hold the item in both your hands as if it were an ancient object of high valor.

5 Always hold items with respect and do not spin the item around or gesticulate during the process.

6 Never put your finger in the trigger guard and never point the gun at someone.

7 Do not cock the hammer, cycle the cylinder or open or cycle the action or take out the magazine, (this in the contrary to gun use for shooting) in doing so with collector’s items there is always the chance that you slightly damage the outer surfaces or sharp edges of the item or grips, this is a serious issue in regards towards the value of the item.

8. Be respectful towards your fellow collectors and gun dealers, and remember nobody knows everything.

9 Always keep your mouth shut and your hands in your pockets if your opinion is not asked for.

10 Introduce yourself before the conversation and be polite and listen to what others have to say.
